Doug Keough went to his heavenly home.

Monday, March 30

John 14: 1 - 4  "Do not let your hearts be troubled.  Trust in God; trust also in me.  In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so I would have told you.  I am going there to prepare a place for you.  And if I go prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you may also be where I am.  You know the way to the place I am going."

Doug went to his heavenly home this afternoon.  Continue to pray for the family.

Doug Keough

This is a sad day for our family.  We are all preparing ourselves to let him go.  God has a place prepared for you is one of the many promises we belief in.  Pray for the Keough family as they have a heavy heart right now but also filled with many great memories of Doug!

Hugs to you all, Liz

Below are words from my cousin Sarah (Doug's wife).

I have a Doug Keough story that I have shared this past week with a few friends.  When Doug was first diagnosed in 2005, he kept telling people that if God wanted to take him out with this disease, he was ready to go.  Friends would ask about his cancer and he would tell them that it was a rare one and if God called him home, he was ready.  I finally said, "Hey Keough.  Tone it down.  Think about us.  We're not that excited for you to go."  So he did.  That story gives you an idea of Doug and the reality of heaven and God's promises.  They are true and he was not afraid.

Sunday - The transplant doctor told me that they have done all they can for Doug.  His lungs are worsening, his liver and kidneys are failing, he will not recover.  They are preparing to transition from treating him to providing care and comfort.  I am supposed to meet with the hospice team today to make those plans.  Pray for Doug, all the family at this time, and pray for each other.

Romans 8.  "In the same way the Spirit helps us in our weakness.  We do not know what we out to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express."

Cilantro-Lime Grilled Chicken

Cilantro-Lime Grilled Chicken

6 boneless, skinless chicken breast halves

1/4 cup fresh lime juice

1/4 cup extra-virgin olive oil

3 cloves garlic, minced

2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro

1 1/2 teaspoons firmly packed brown sugar

1 teaspoon ground cumin

1 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt

1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

favorite salsa

sour cream

Place a chicken breast between 2 sheets of plastic wrap and using the flat side of a meat mallet, gently and gradually flatten it until it is about 1/2 inch thick.  Repeat with the other chicken breast.  Place the chicken in a 1-gallon lock-top plastic bag or in a shallow dish.

To prepare the marinade, in a bowl, combine the lime juice, olive oil, garlic, chopped cilantro, brown sugar, salt, cumin, and pepper and whisk until thoroughly blended.  Pour the marinade over the chicken, coating all sides well.  Squeeze all the air out of the bag and seal it, or cover the dish.  Refrigerate the chicken for a minimum of 1 hour or for up to 3 hours.  Remove from refrigerator 30 minutes before grilling.

Preheat your gas grill to 300.  Remove the chicken from the marinade.  Place on preheated grill.   Cook each side for 7 minutes depending on the thickness of your chicken.

Remove the chicken from the grill and transfer to a plate.  Spoon some salsa over each portion, followed by a dollop of sour cream,  Garnish with the remaining cilantro sprigs.  Serve immediately.

Enjoy, this is one of my favorite recipes for chicken.
