Mom's 89th Birthday Party!

We all gathered together last night at Charleston's to celebrate 89 wonderful, healthy and blessed years with our Mom. Mom is such an example of a "Women after God's own heart". All her life she has been a wonderful example to us all. The song that I picked for this slideshow is what our Mom wants for us and has taught us all to become. So turn up the volume and enjoy!

Chris Hyltons second LOVE!

As many of you know Chris's second love is snowboarding. Recently he was asked to design a snowboard for a company called Prior out of Canada.  His design was chosen and here is the 2010 Prior snowboard that is now in stores.  The company sent Chris the first board and it even has his name on it!  It's so cool. Way to go Chris.  We are so proud of you!

Avocado Salsa

Avocado Salsa

2 large tomatoes diced, seeded

1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro

1/4 cup finely chopped onion

1 or 2 jalapeno peppers, finely chopped

1/4 tsp salt

3 tbsp. lime juice

2 medium avocados

Combine all ingredients in medium bowl, mix well.  Peel avocados and remove pit.  Chop into 1/4 inch cubes,  add to tomato mixture.  Refrigerate 30 minutes before serving.  Serve with homemade flour tortilla chips or store bought if you don’t have the time to make them.  For homemade: slice fajita size flour tortillas/deep fry in oil.

Loop Magazine Cornerstone Church

Many of you know our Son-in-law Chris changed jobs in Feb.  It was a blessing from God that he is now LOVIN his job. He is a Graphic Artist.

I've posted a few of the pages that are in this 32 page church magazine they just launched this past Sunday to their members.  We are so proud of him for his amazing talent.

Thank you from our hearts!

I was going to post a final tribute to Doug but my cousin Sarah said it all in a beautiful email to everyone.

A thank you from the family.

I want everyone to know how thankful I am for all the encouraging messages sent during the past 3 months.  I am especially grateful for the many, many prayers that were spoken for Doug, me, Jessica, Tina, Erik.  Those prayers were what kept us going in the midst of all the turmoil; knowing that you were on your knees asking God for His mercy and grace.  And God did grant that to us.  That is not to say that it was easy.  It wasn't.  It was the hardest thing I ever had to do.  I had to give Doug up to our Lord and Saviour and give Him control over everything.  But God has granted us His comfort, peace, grace, mercy in every step and that is what we cling to now.

These are things I know:  God's promises are true.  Doug is rejoicing in heaven today.  Doug has experienced the ultimate healing.  God will continue to work in our lives to provide what we need.  God is the source of strength, not me.  I know without a doubt that Doug loved me and our children.  Doug was the man he was because of Christ working in his life.  God is good - all the time.

John 3:16  "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life."     This Sunday is Easter.  Rejoice with me as we celebrate a risen Saviour.  It is because of His work on the cross that I have hope of an eternal future.  We will see each other again and what a joyous day that will be.  Praise God!!

0006694002-01-1_210334.jpg

Douglas Paul Keough, 58, of Mesa, AZ passed away on March 30, 2009 in Phoenix, AZ. Doug was born on August 6, 1950 in Medina, NY to Richard and Evelyn Keough. His family moved to Arizona in 1962. Doug completed both his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Education at Arizona State University. Doug dedicated nearly 35 years of his life to teaching junior high math in the Laveen Elementary School District. His great passion for education was second only to his love for his Lord Jesus Christ. Doug was a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Sarah Keough, his daughters, Jessica Keough and Kristina Henrikson, and son in law, Erik Henrikson. As one of six children, he is also survived by sisters, Marylin Bunger (Tom), Rebecca Chaffin (Donald), and Rachel Coulter, brothers, Steven Keough (Carol) and David Keough, 7 nieces and 14 nephews. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 4, 2009 at 11:00 am at Grace Community Church, 1200 E. Southern in Tempe, AZ. Meldrum Mortuary handled the arrangements.

Doug Keough went to his heavenly home.

Thank you for your comments left on my blog about Doug. Also, thanks for the many prayers, emails & Facebook note you have sent in regards to Doug.  Below I have posted a note from my cousin Sarah (Doug's wife) that I thought you would want to know.

Blessing, Liz

Dougs services will be Saturday at 11:00 am ~ Grace Community Church in Tempe.

From Sarah Keough,

This week has been a week filled with many emotions.  I didn't know that I could cry and laugh at the same time.  We have spent many special moments looking through pictures and just reliving those times that meant so much.  It was also a time of looking back and realizing how important Doug was to so many people.  He was husband, father, brother, friend, teacher, mentor, believer.

Reading the comments from students has been such a sweet time.  Doug always felt that Cash was his home away from home and he loved all his students so much.  He wanted the best for his students and he was always looking for ways to let them see that there was a big world out there waiting for them and all they needed was to get the education and they could do more than they ever dreamed.

Some of you have asked about making a donation to a group or organization in Doug's name in lieu of sending flowers.  We have decided that to honor Doug and his passion for the Cash community, donations be sent to MC Cash School.  The donations will be used to set up a scholarship fund in Doug's name.  This will help students pay fees and buy books and other things needed to continue their education.

  1. Donations may be made to M.C. Cash.  "Donation in memory of Doug Keough" on the memo line.
